Process
Calm, step by step
Eight stages, each with a clear start, end and fee. Here’s exactly what happens at each one: what you do, what we do, and what you come away with.
The client journey
Not every project uses every stage. A styling refresh skips documentation and building, so it goes straight from the plan to ordering.
Select a stage to see what happens, who does what and what you get.
A short phone or video call about your home, the rooms you want to change, your timing and a rough budget.
Your part
- Tell us what’s not working and what you love
- Share a few photos or a floor plan if you have one
Our part
- Ask about scope, timing and budget
- Tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit
You come away with: A clear yes or no, and if it’s yes, a consultation time.
We visit your home (or you visit the studio) to walk through each room, measure the key spaces and talk through priorities.
Your part
- Walk us through how you use the house
- Show us anything you want to keep
Our part
- Measure, photograph and take notes
- Give you early ideas on the spot
- Send a written summary within three business days
You come away with: A consultation summary. The fee is credited to your first stage if you go ahead.
A written scope listing exactly what we’ll design, fixed fees for each stage and a realistic program.
Your part
- Read it and ask questions
- Accept when you’re ready (there’s no pressure or expiry)
Our part
- Set out fees per stage
- Flag likely permits, consultants and lead times
You come away with: A signed proposal and a start date.
Layouts, a material and colour palette and pencil sketches of the key rooms, presented in person with real samples.
Your part
- Come to one presentation
- Give feedback for one round of changes
Our part
- Plan options with trade-offs explained
- Material boards and sketches
- An early budget check
You come away with: An agreed direction you can picture living in.
Every detail resolved and drawn: joinery, lighting, finishes, fixtures and furniture, in a set your builder can price and build from.
Your part
- Make final selections with us
- Review the drawing set
Our part
- Joinery, lighting and finishes drawings
- Specifications and schedules
- Help comparing builder and cabinetmaker quotes
You come away with: A drawing set and specification ready for tender.
Your builder builds while we order furniture and lighting, answer site questions and check the details as they go in.
Your part
- Approve orders and variations
- Live somewhere else for the messy bits, if needed
Our part
- Place and track orders
- Visit site at key stages
- Resolve questions before they become problems
You come away with: A finished build that matches the drawings.
Furniture delivered and placed, art hung, curtains dressed and shelves styled, so you walk into a finished home.
Your part
- Hand over the keys for a day or two
- Come home to a finished house
Our part
- Receive deliveries
- Place, hang and style everything
- Leave a handover folder with care guides and warranties
You come away with: Finished rooms, and the paperwork to look after them.
We come back once you’ve lived in the rooms for a season, to adjust anything that isn’t quite right and fix any defects.
Your part
- Tell us what’s working and what isn’t
Our part
- A follow-up visit
- Coordinate any defects with trades
You come away with: Rooms that settle in properly.

Process questions
How involved do we need to be?
Most at the start (the consultation and concept) and at a few key decisions after that. Between those, we do the chasing: suppliers, trades, lead times and site questions.
Can we pause between stages?
Yes. Each stage is quoted and invoiced separately, so you can stop after concept design, for example, and pick it up again when the budget or timing is right.
What if we don’t like the concept?
Concept design includes a round of changes, and the first presentation always has options. If the direction is wrong, we’d rather hear it early: it’s the cheapest moment to change course.
Who manages the builder?
Your builder works for you under a building contract. We visit site, answer questions and check the detail against the drawings. On commercial projects, we can also take on a more formal superintendent role.
Consultations
Begin with a conversation
A short call about your home, your timing and your budget. If we’re a good fit, we’ll book a consultation in your home, at the studio or by video.
